Why annual ERCES testing is not optional

Skipping annual testing puts the Certificate of Occupancy at risk. An AHJ inspection or an incident-driven audit that finds a lapsed test record can trigger a stop-work order or a fire-code violation. It also breaks the insurance chain — if a system that failed to meet compliance also fails to work during an incident, liability travels back to the building owner.
